Breakfast at the hotel was wonderful. The proprietor seemed to put a great deal of care into tastefully decorating the room and cooking a real breakfast. She can be a bit cranky, but she runs a very nice place.
From there, we walked to a large outdoor fresh fruit market, where we bought some fruit to eat later in the day. We then took a boat ride tour of the canals that run around and through the town, and then spent a while walking through the town. Bruges is a very well preserved old town, with winding cobblestone streets, ancient buildings that are all still entact, and a number of canals that cut through and around the town. It seems to be mostly tourist-type shops, but the tourists are mostly European.
We stopped to eat at a Subway so that the girls could get something that they liked. It also had WiFi, which enabled us to get online to make plans and try to figure out what we would do next. After, we stopped at a chocolate store. For dinner, Phyllis and I picked up pizza and pasta from an Italien takeout place. We then spent a long time in the evening trying to find our next hotel booking Eventually found a place in Berlin. Home to bed.
