We awoke, walked to the tram station, and rode into town, back to Place de la Comedie. There, we had lunch at a pasta place, and then wandered the old town for a couple of hours. We saw St. Peters, with it’s giant porch, but it was closed inside. We also walked through the Jardin de Plants, supposedly the first botanical garden in Europe. It sort of looked like a ruin, partially overgrown with plants and not in the best of shape. Lovely in it’s own way, though. After returning to the square, we sat for a bit at a cafe and then decided to return to the room, feeling very tired from the heat.
At the room, Phyllis and I did the laundry, which required us to take our wet clothes to a local place to be dried after we discovered that the hotel dryer did not work. I then went to the supermarket behind the hotel to buy bread and cheese for dinner, and we ate in the room. Then we sat on the hotel porch in the evening and I read while the girls watched a movie. Then to bed.
