We took the morning train for a day trip to Geneva, just an hour away by train. After leaving the station, we stopped for breakfast at a Starbucks. Despite barely getting anything, we were stunned to discover that the bill came to $40, confirming what I had read that Geneva was an extremely expensive city.
After, we walked down to the lake, then crossed over to the other side and walked through the old town and up to St. Pierre, a church where Calvin preached. We paid to climb up into the towers, which involved climbing up through narrow stone stairs. We saw the bells, and then got tremendous views over the lake and the surrounding mountains.
We then walked further to the longest bench in the world, where the girls played for a time at a playground there. We then descended to the business and shopping district to look for lunch. Things were crazy expensive, but we eventually found a street side hot dog vendor selling hot dogs for $8 each.
We strolled back to the lake again, and then returned to the train station and headed back to our rooms at Aix Les Bains. There, we ate at a restaurant close to our hotel and then returned to our room. I started feeling sick with a sore throat and fever, and so bought cold medicine and then turned in.
