We awoke and walked to the train station, stopping for breakfast at a bakery along the way, and then trained to Strasbourg. We had little trouble figuring out how to take the street car to our hotel, but ran into problems when we looked for lunch. It was Sunday, and literally everyplace in the city was closed. We spent maybe two hours looking before finally finding something at a bratwurst stand.
After eating, we explored the old town, which was quite lovely. We checked out the local gothic cathedral, which was very impressive. We took the girls up the steps to the top of the tower, which gave awesome views of the city. We then walked to the Petite France part of town, which featured several streets of very old houses built in the split timber style that is common throughout southern Germany. We also walked along the canal, carrying the girls on our backs. For dinner we ate pasta at an italian place, and then headed back to the rooms, where Phyllis and I and Amber played cards until bedtime.
