Today was our last day in Paris. Our train to London did not leave until late afternoon, so we spent the morning walking around the Montmarte neighborhood some more. We first walked to the Gare du Norde and had lunch at the McDonalds there. Then we crossed back and found the Moulin Rouge in the “red light” district. Afterwards, we just walked the streets at random, admiring the views and watching the Parisians go about their day.
Eventually, we retrived our luggage and headed back to the train station, where we waited for another hour or two before boarding the Eurostar train to London. This was a short, scenic ride, returning us to London. It was nice to be back where we could understand the language.
We then took the Tube to Gattwick airport, and then caught a shuttle bus to our hotel for the night, located near the airport. It was after 10 when we checked in. There was a group of about six LDS missionaries checking in at the same time. By the looks of it, they were just arriving from the US, a bunch of very young, nervous looking kids all dragging enormous luggage behind them.
We had dinner at the hotel – fish and chips for me – and then turned in to our rooms for the night.
